What is Restylane®?
Restylane® is a soft tissue dermal filler used at vivaMD Medical Spa & Weight Management to add volume to facial tissue for the correction of wrinkles, facial contour augmentation and lip enhancement, and to fight the loss of volume as a result of aging. Restylane® is another of the hyaluronic sugar gels. Restylane® has a unique cross-linking configuration that makes it different than Juvéderm®. At vivaMD Medical Spa & Weight Management, Restylane® is optimally deployed, because of its cross-linking configuration and anatomy, for injections under the eyes and bordering the lips. Restylane®, like its cousins Juvéderm® and Perlane®, is deployed at vivaMD Medical Spa & Weight Management in the areas where it is most indicated and injected by the vivaMD Medical Spa & Weight Management injection experts.
How is Restylane® injected?
The Restylane® injection is performed with small needles. All injection specialists at vivaMD Medical Spa & Weight Management are either highly-trained or experienced nurses with years and years of soft-tissue filler injection experience or physician. Restylane®, has lidocaine or local anesthetic already mixed in. Thus, while the injection is proceeding, anesthesia is also being instilled, making the procedure very tolerable.
Who is a candidate for Restylane® soft tissue filler injections?
Candidates for Restylane® injections are those individuals that have lost fine lines and wrinkles or some deflation under the eye. Individuals with small or wrinkled upper lips may also benefit from restylane. A good candidate for Restylane® is realistic about the type of youth, volume and shape that can be achieved with simple soft tissue filler and often good candidates will undergo combination therapy at vivaMD Med Spa with BOTOX Injectable, fractional lasers.
What are the contraindication to Restylane injections?.………………………………………….
Contraindications to Restylane® injections would be allergic reaction to Restylane® in the past, which is exceedingly rare and usually due to the crosslinking material rather than the Restylane® itself. Other contraindications would be patients who might be pregnant or areas of inflammation, infection or skin cancer in the area of injection.
Is the Restylane® injection painful?
The Restylane® products are mixed with local anesthesia and, as such, they are very comfortable and tolerable procedures.
Wht can I expect following treatment with Restylane®?
You can resume normal activities following the treatment. The most commonly reported side effect has been redness and swelling at the infection site. These effects typically resolve within few hours or, at most, a day or two. Results are immediately evident. Lines, wrinkles and folds look softer and your skin looks smooth.
How long do the results of Restylane® last? …………………………………………………………………………….
Depending on many factors, such as your lifestyle, age, location it is injected, and skin structure results of Restylane® injections may last as long as six months to a year or more. Your may require a touch up treatment 2-4 weeks after the first treatment to achieve your desired result. Restylane® treatment to enhance the lips is reported to last much longer than treatment using standard collagen filler. When the effect of the treatment begin to diminish, you can replenish the area as needed.
